GetResponse does something most email marketing tools avoid: it bundles webinar hosting, landing pages, and email automation into a single subscription. Whether that all-in-one approach is a genuine advantage depends on what your business actually needs.

If you run events, courses, or consultancy sessions, GetResponse removes the need to pay separately for a webinar platform. If you just need reliable email, some of those extras will go unused. The free plan covers 500 contacts with unlimited email sends, though the send limit drops to 2,500 newsletters per month and landing pages are limited to one.

We signed up, tested the email editor and automation builder, created landing pages, and ran a live test webinar to understand what the platform actually delivers at each tier.

Is GetResponse worth it for small businesses?

Yes, particularly if webinars, landing pages, or marketing funnels are part of your business. GetResponse is one of the few email tools that includes webinar hosting as part of the paid subscription, and its landing page builder is available even on the free tier.

For businesses that run workshops, coaching sessions, demos, or online courses, the built-in webinar hosting removes a separate subscription that typically costs £40 to £100 per month. That makes the GetResponse pricing case easier to justify, even against cheaper alternatives.

One caveat worth knowing: the visual automation builder requires the Marketer plan, not the Starter. If you are comparing on price, make sure you are comparing the right tiers. For pure email marketing without webinars, MailerLite is simpler and starts at a similar price.

How much does GetResponse cost?

GetResponse offers a permanent free plan and three paid tiers. The free plan covers 500 contacts with a 2,500 newsletter send limit per month, one landing page, and basic email marketing tools. Paid plans remove these caps and add progressively more powerful features.

The Starter plan runs from $15 per month (around £12, billed annually) for 1,000 contacts. This includes unlimited email sends, autoresponders, and basic automation sequences. The Marketer plan, needed for the visual automation builder, runs from $59 per month for 1,000 contacts. The Creator plan adds additional monetisation tools.

Pricing scales steeply with list size. At 10,000 contacts, the Starter plan rises to around $79 per month. Duplicate contacts across lists are counted separately, which can inflate your billing faster than expected if you manage multiple list segments. There are no refunds on paid plans, so the 30-day free trial of premium features is worth using before committing.

What do you get on GetResponse's free plan?

The 2,500 send limit is more restrictive than it sounds. If you have 500 contacts and want to send a weekly newsletter, that is 2,000 sends per month, leaving very little room for any additional campaigns. Removed and bounced contacts still count towards your contact limit, which can also push you towards an upgrade sooner than expected.

The free plan is most useful as an extended trial rather than a permanent home. The 30-day premium feature trial on signup is worth activating, as it gives you access to the full feature set including the Marketer-tier automation builder before you need to decide.

How easy is GetResponse to use?

Competent, but busier than MailerLite. The drag-and-drop editor works well and has a template library of over 200 pre-built designs. The breadth of features means more menus, more settings, and more decisions to navigate before you send your first campaign.

For someone new to email marketing, the onboarding is reasonable. There is a setup checklist and contextual tips through the first campaign. Most users find their footing within a few sessions. The interface is more visually complex than MailerLite's but the learning curve is not steep.

The AI email generator, included on paid plans, creates complete emails including layout, copy, and subject line from a short brief. Powered by OpenAI, it produces usable first drafts rather than polished copy, but it removes the blank-page problem quickly. Mobile preview is built in and accurate.

How powerful is GetResponse's automation?

The visual automation workflow builder is GetResponse's strongest feature for marketers, but it requires the Marketer plan. The Starter plan includes autoresponders and basic time-based sequences, which covers welcome emails and simple follow-up cadences. For branching logic, conditions, and event-based triggers, you need to step up.

The Marketer-tier workflow builder uses a drag-and-drop canvas with trigger blocks, condition nodes, and action steps. It covers most real-world automation use cases: welcome series, lead nurture sequences, post-purchase flows, and re-engagement campaigns. Contact scoring and event tracking are also available at this tier.

In testing, we built a five-step welcome sequence with conditional branches and a follow-up based on link click behaviour. It ran cleanly. GetResponse's automation does not quite match ActiveCampaign's depth, but it covers 90 percent of what most small businesses need at a lower price point.

Does GetResponse include landing pages?

Yes, one on the free plan and unlimited on all paid plans. The free tier allows one active landing page, which is more than most tools offer at no cost. Paid plans remove the limit and add A/B testing, custom domain connection, and pop-ups.

The landing page builder is a separate drag-and-drop editor from the email builder but uses familiar conventions. GetResponse includes around 200 landing page templates covering lead capture, webinar registration, sales pages, and promotional pages. You can go live in under 30 minutes with a basic lead capture page.

Custom domain connection is available on paid plans, which removes GetResponse branding from the page URL. That matters if you are driving paid traffic. The pages load quickly and are mobile-responsive. They are not as design-flexible as dedicated tools like Unbounce, but for list building and webinar sign-ups, they are more than adequate.

What are GetResponse's deliverability rates like?

Decent, though not without issues. Independent testing by EmailToolTester has recorded inbox placement rates around 82 to 91 percent for GetResponse depending on the testing period. That means roughly one in ten to one in five emails may not reach the primary inbox. For most newsletters, that is acceptable; for time-sensitive campaigns, it is worth monitoring.

GetResponse maintains a 99 percent technical delivery rate and supports DKIM, SPF, and DMARC authentication. Setup is documented in the platform and takes around 15 to 20 minutes for most registrars. In our own test sends across Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail, the majority of emails reached the inbox without filtering.

Some users report emails landing in Gmail's Promotions tab rather than the primary inbox. That is a Gmail categorisation decision, not a deliverability failure, but it can affect open rates for promotional campaigns. Maintaining a clean, engaged list and using authentication correctly helps keep your sender reputation strong.

What does GetResponse integrate with?

Over 150 direct integrations with the most commonly used business tools. Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and PrestaShop are all supported natively for ecommerce data sync. Salesforce and HubSpot integrations exist for businesses with existing CRM setups. PayPal and Stripe connect directly for payment-triggered emails.

For tools beyond the native list, Zapier and Make cover the long tail. The WordPress plugin is official, though some users have reported compatibility issues in recent updates. There is also a mobile app for monitoring campaign performance on the go.

For webinar hosts, GetResponse integrates with YouTube Live and Facebook Live for hybrid broadcast setups where you want to stream to multiple platforms simultaneously. That combination is fairly unique at this price point.

Is GetResponse good for ecommerce?

Reasonably good, particularly for businesses that combine email marketing with funnel building. The native Shopify and WooCommerce integrations pull in order data and let you segment customers by purchase history, product category, and spend value.

Abandoned cart emails and post-purchase sequences work on paid plans. Product blocks in emails can pull pricing and images dynamically from your Shopify store. GetResponse also includes conversion funnels, which combine landing pages, email sequences, and product pages into a single flow without needing separate tools.

For serious ecommerce businesses where email is a primary revenue channel, Klaviyo's predictive analytics and Shopify integration depth are more powerful. GetResponse is the better choice for businesses that need both email and landing pages in one tool, or those adding webinars to their ecommerce customer journey.

Does GetResponse include webinars?

Yes, and this is the feature that most distinguishes GetResponse from every other tool in this comparison. Webinar hosting is included on paid plans, with capacity ranging from 300 attendees on the base tier to 1,000 attendees on higher plans.

You can host live webinars, schedule them in advance with automated reminder emails, make recordings available on demand afterwards, and integrate YouTube Live or Facebook Live for multi-platform broadcasts. The registration page is built directly inside GetResponse using the landing page builder, so the whole flow lives in one system.

It is not as polished as a dedicated webinar platform like Zoom Webinars or Demio, and there are no breakout rooms or advanced facilitation tools. But for a presentation-style webinar included in your email subscription at no extra cost, it is genuinely useful. For coaches, consultants, course creators, and businesses that run regular demos, this feature alone can justify the GetResponse subscription.

What support does GetResponse offer?

24/7 live chat and email support on all paid plans. Response times during UK business hours were typically under 10 minutes in our testing, with accurate and helpful answers to specific technical questions. Email support response times were within one business day.

The knowledge base covers most setup questions, automation configurations, and deliverability queries, though the documentation quality varies by topic. Some newer feature documentation is less thorough than the core email marketing guides. Video tutorials are available for the key workflows.

Phone support is not available on standard plans. Billing disputes and account cancellations have drawn criticism in some user reviews, with complaints that resolution is slow. That is a meaningful risk for annual subscribers. Familiarise yourself with the refund policy before committing to an annual plan, as no refunds are offered once payment is processed.

How does GetResponse compare to the alternatives?

Against MailerLite, the free plans are now similar at 500 contacts each. GetResponse's free tier includes one landing page and templates; MailerLite locks templates to paid plans but offers 10 landing pages. MailerLite's paid tiers are cheaper at comparable contact counts. GetResponse wins clearly on webinars, which MailerLite does not offer at all.

Against ActiveCampaign, GetResponse is more accessible and more affordable at entry level. ActiveCampaign's automation is deeper and the integrated CRM is more capable. If you need a proper sales pipeline alongside your email marketing, ActiveCampaign is the stronger choice. For all-in-one marketing without CRM complexity, GetResponse covers more ground for less money.

Against Klaviyo, GetResponse is better for non-ecommerce businesses and for those who want webinars in the mix. Klaviyo's ecommerce analytics and Shopify integration are stronger, but it has no webinar feature and its Trustpilot reviews reflect significant billing frustration. For ecommerce stores where email drives direct revenue, Klaviyo still has the edge on data depth.

If you purely need email with a generous free tier and no interest in webinars, MailerLite's 10 landing pages and lower paid pricing are a better fit. If you need deep automation with a CRM, ActiveCampaign leads that category. But for the combination of email, landing pages, and webinars in one affordable package, GetResponse is the most complete option.
